About Firenze VR

In Firenze VR, the user sits down in a hanging chair, puts the VR helmet, lift his feet and grabs the side handles. From there, he will start moving the ornithopter with the hanging handles that he has at his sides and will be able to fly around a recreation of Florence during the XVI century.

To have the maximum immersion in the experience, the whole installation counts with extra elements instead of having only the HTC VIVE. In front of the user, there was a big fan that simulated the wind he received, even more, there were speakers that played the wind sound. Furthermore, the handles move the big wings you can see at the sides so it gave a nice weight feel to the user. For last, the user is in a hanging chair let them to not touch the floor and have the “I am flying” feel.

The whole art was made by Nicolás Rivero, Hugo Miraballes and Juan Cecchetto, the coding part was made by me and the installation was made by the maintenance team of Escuela Da Vinci.

What you see inside the VIVE

Inside the VIVE the players feel a recreation of the city of Florence during the XVI century. There, there is a whole recreation of the city streets with generic buildings and they can also see some important buildings like the Florence Cathedral.

Apart from these things, the player also can see a model of the ornithopter around him and can see it moving its wings when he pulls the handles.
