Sunday Devlog Update 22nd of January

Hello, everyone!

So loads of update for the projects.

First, for the bullet hell game, we have new medals working with the Newgrounds API. Also, we added the last three new ultimate weapons. The ultimate of the Rockets, that will fire the homing rockets with a lot of small rockets, the ultimate of the cannon, that will add two more cannons for each side, and the ultimate of the machinegun, that will start heating if you keep pressed, making a lot of more damage but making you move slower.

Secondly, we added a new special background. This background will be a solar flare that will difficult the vision of the player in small lapses of time. With this new addition, we keep adding variety to the game, which is always a great addition.

Thirdly, we added a new useful feature that shows which weapons you have equipped right now. The main goal of this one is that will help you to know which weapon will be replaced next, so it helps you to decide if you pick or not that upgrade weapon.

Fourthly, we also added a how to play and high score screen. Those were simple addons but they really look amazing thanks to the art it has.

Finally, I made a bunch of performance tweaks. I am trying to revindicate flash player here, at least regarding performance. I know it is silly because even I know it sucks when talking about performance but I am committed to showing that you can still do this kind of things, even if it needs to be ultra optimized.

Now, for Witchcraft, all the team came to my home on Friday till yesterday and worked on the game in order to make a bunch of stuff. We are testing the new art of the middle level and tried out some different light bakes. Also, I focused more on the skill selection screen and I can finally say, it is functional… though still has some graphic issues with the Unity animator I need to solve.

Additionally, we plan to add a fourth member to the team. His goal will be to make the new characters with their respective animations. We hope to help Hugo with the art by doing this but we still have nobody confirmed. As soon we do, you will know who is.

In other news, I added two new things to the website. First, the games that I made and uses the Newgrounds API (and you need to be logged in there) have a special button that you can use to redirect to the game in newgrounds. This way, you can play with all the API features I use. Since this website is more like a personal dev blog, it isn’t a big deal people going out of the site, if they find it interest and want to check another project they will come back.

The second new addition, is that I found my old thesis for high school: a Cellular Automaton I made using PythonG where you could set values and see what happened. I decided to upload it complete, with the .pdf documentation and the diapositive. It is all in Spanish but you can try it out if you are interested. I placed this project in the Others page.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
